LIVESTOCK DEVELOPMENT IN WATERSHED

Livestock Development and fodder production activities provide strong support for the development of agricultural oriented rural farmers. In rural India small and very small farmers making livestock as subsidized occupation for their additional income. Agriculture and animal husbandry are mutually exclusive, and it is important to raise high quality livestock to produce high-value animal for animal based food and increase soil fertility. Hence, animal husbandry have been found to be a sustainable and livable system in a comprehensive agricultural system, Implementation of livestock activities at rural levels emphasizes organic farming, the life of all the farmers of the village and the lives of every poor landowner. This is the main purpose of the project.


Activities implemented under the Livestock Component during the current year.

    1. Pradhana Manthri Krushi Shinchayi Yojane-(WD):

Under this scheme the following activities are identified for implementation

      1. Watershed Activities
        1. Perennial fodder production in minimum of 10 grunts of land.
        2. Crop border improved perennial fodder crop development.
        3. Improved fodder development by using fodder minikit.
        4. Development of Perennial fodder nursery.
        5. Azolla production.

                   B. The following activities have been identified under production system and micro enterprises:

        1. Livestock health camps
        2. Installing Travis
        3. Poultry farming
        4. Silage preparation

          II. Sujala-III Scheme:

The following programs have been identified for the landless labour family the total cost, which is include all the programme is not exceeding Rs.10,000/-.

    1. Giriraja chicken unit
    2. Hybrid buffalo / country breed unit.
    3. Distribution of ram lambs.
    4. Dairy unit (One heifer calf 50% CB / Sahiwal/Tharparka / Giri / Deoni / Graded buffalo and indeginous descript breed male calf)
